GIS Enhancemet Project
The Information Technology Geographic Information Systems (GIS) team worked in conjunction with various county departments to bring our GIS data set up to a maintainable and accurate level. Historically the county's GIS data has been updated on an as-needed basis with available staff from the Information Technology Division, which only allowed access to current data on a quarterly basis at best.
With dedicated resources and funding from the Health Department, Public Works, and Community Development, we have made a team effort to provide a set of data that is not only maintainable on a real-time schedule but have also provided data that is considerably more accurate than previously available. As we pass this data through our final verification phases, we will be creating more applications that will be available online for the public to access.
Administrative Services - Yuba County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan
Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 (DMA 2000)
Yuba County received a competitive grant award of $1,510,000 through the efforts of Pat Beecham and the Office of Emergency Services. This grant money is for the development of a Yuba County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan.
The Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan will address all hazards and establish a process to identify and assess risks, as well as prioritizing activities to reduce damage to property and prevent loss of life from natural and man-made disasters.
Yuba County Enterprise GIS data will be an important factor in the successful completion of the Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan
Yuba County Fire Safe Council GIS Grant Project
1. Develop a layer for Fire Plan Safe Areas for Yuba County and Sphere of Influence.
2. Develop a layer for Evacuation Routes within Yuba County and Sphere of Influence.
3. Develop a layer for Water Sources (lakes, ponds, water tanks, canals, periods of flow, etc.) within Yuba County and Sphere of Influence.
4. Update and maintain the Wildland Fuel Modification Project Layers covering Yuba County. Add pertinent data to the layers (treatment, cost, matching $, date treated, follow-up treatments)
5. Refine the Roads layer for Yuba County and the Sphere of Influence
(Yuba County Information Technology Division) update of the Yuba County Roads Layer.
6. Collect an ortho-photo layer for Yuba County.
7. Develop a layer for displaying the location of Locked Gates within Yuba County and Sphere of Influence.
8. Develop a layer for School Districts within Yuba County and Sphere of Influence.
9. Create a layer for a 10-mile Sphere of Influence around Yuba County.
10. Develop a layer for Power Line locations within Yuba County and Sphere of Influence.
Public Works - Inventory Parks and Recreation and Open Space
Identify and inventory all parks and recreation lands within Yuba County including areas that are within the incorporated boundaries of Marysville, Wheatland and all Public Utility Districts.
